Our Expertise

As an accredited institution of higher education, Erikson is home to faculty and staff with vast knowledge in the fields of child development, social work, and early childhood education.

一道本不卡免费高清Their expertise informs Erikson’s advocacy efforts, and they are considered credible sources for the education and medical fields, government, research organizations, and professionals who work with young children.

We do this work to radically redistribute resources in a way that dismantles institutional racism and economic disparity.
Cristina Pacione-ZayasPhD, Erikson Director of Policy

Our approach

Using evidenced-based research as the foundation of our programs, our Early Childhood Leadership Academy provides early childhood and civic leaders with content knowledge they can utilize to make the most informed decisions about policy setting and resource allocation in their respective fields.

To amplify collective action at the grassroots level, Erikson’s Community Data Initiatives help translate data for community planning, policy development, and early childhood resource allocation. We are一道本不卡免费高清 licensed to implement the Early Development Instrument (EDI) in Illinois communities, which is a neighborhood-level population measure that gauges the development of young children within the context of their community before they enter kindergarten. Data derived from the EDI can be used to look back on how programs, services, and systems can be better coordinated based on needs and to plan for future interventions as the kindergarten cohort progresses through elementary school and beyond.

一道本不卡免费高清Additionally, we worked with early childhood partners and advocates to produce the Illinois Risk and Reach Report, which analyzes and translates data indicators in the areas of family stability, health and early care and education that affect the wellbeing of young children and how Illinois is allocating resources to mitigate “risk” factors undermining child development.
